Not so high flying adventure

Molly has said she wanted to "fly" which is indoor skydiving for her birthday for months after she saw Jon's parents, our friend Tina and I all do this fun activity. We asked over and over and she insisted she wanted to and even talked about flying when she saw the billboard. Jon and I agreed that when she turned 3 we would let her try and she remembered. She woke up saying I 3 I fly over and over and over. So we purchased the buddy plan so Jon and Molly could fly, get a shirt and get a dvd of the whole experience. When we pulled up to Paraclete she was so excited but slowly that excitement turned into fear and in the end she decided she would rather not fly. Jon, her gracious buddy didn't want to pressure her - so mommy to the rescue who came and gave the pep talk of a lifetime (ie don't ask for anymore crazy things like this if you don't go through) but reminded her I loved her no matter what. There was much discussion between Jon and I but in the end he had the best argument - she is three not a teenager with the capacity to fully understand what she wanted. So we rescheduled for a few months from now and will try again because the next day she said she was ready to fly again:)
Excited but cautious

Starting to really think about what she is doing - she was very quite once we got the outfit on and that is when I started to worry.
Getting her ear plugs like daddy
And it all went downhill from the goggles
The crying stopped but when asked if she wanted to fly the answer was no longer yes.
The instructor was very gracious and let us walk her in to see if she might change her mind but she kept saying no and he recommended we reschedule because he wouldn't force a kid into the tunnel.
Our birthday dinner for an amazing girl! I love that she has an adventurous spirit but is also willing to say no when she isn't comfortable (even if mommy tries to pressure her). She brings us so much joy and I am thankful every day that God gave Jon and I the pleasure of being her parents!
Her sister didn't want to be left out of the action - she loved her dinner too!! One nice thing about the skydiving place is that many of the instructors are awesome with kids. While Riley and I were watching one was in the tunnel practicing and would come close to her and put his hand up for a high five and when she touched it he would zoom up to the top of the tunnel like she had pushed he super hard. This brought a smile to her face and she loved seeing all the cool moves he would do in the tunnel. I am pretty sure if her sister had gone in she would have been screaming to join her!

Birthday's and Dancing

In the coming weeks we will celebrate 2 birthday's! Riley turns 1 and Molly 3 (and a few weeks later Kelly comes into the world). We are planning on doing a joint party for the girls during the day - mainly a playdate with some friends and Jon is super excited about the theme!! My parents were able to come down for the President's day long weekend and so we had a mini celebration with just them also. Today we got presents from Great Grandma Rumbaugh and from NeNe,PaPa and Aunt Jenn so tonight since Molly wasn't feeling too good we let her open her presents. Let's just say Molly's favorite thing was the m&m's great grandma got her and the princess bag that NeNe, PaPa and Aunt Jenn had their presents in - it is the small things in life:)
Riley is starting to get where she can walk holding your hand and onto furniture but has yet to take her first stop by herself. I know it is coming and once it does it should be fun trying to keep up. She loves her sister and would follow Molly anywhere just to play with her.
Molly has a growing love with all things girly - she likes to play baby, dress up and loves princesses. She even manages to find happiness when playing with boys and turning their buzz and woody into her baby dolls. At least she likes to run too so maybe later we will have some sort of sports in our life because there will be no toddler and tiara (as I joke with Jon sometimes).

Molly in her dress up from Granny and BertBurt - notice the Buzz Lightyear pj's to accessorize
So happy - a purse!!! Yep most excited about the purse but then put on a fashion show of the other goods:)
Just give me the food people!!
Molly and BertBurt enjoying a dinner of appetizers followed by cake!
I love me some cake!!
Holding onto her cards - she saw the doggy on the front of Aunt Jenn and Lucky's card and started yelling Lucky Lucky Lucky - I think she loves her dog cousin!
Molly with her loot and Riley's (which she has to wait until at least the right month to open)

Here are the video's of Riley showing you her dancing moves and Molly telling you what she will be doing for her birthday tomorrow.

Friends, Family and the FUNK

We have visited family and friends since our last post and every single one of us has had the FUNK in one form or another. Riley and Molly both had pink eye, Ashley had strep and Jon (didn't get diagnosed) had the crud and all round nasty funk. We have played with our friends which make each day brighter and better. Also we made a trip up to MD to hang out with my mom who desperately needed a diet coke, while there the McP's came and took the girls to the cabin in WV for the weekend. It was nice to get to play games and hang out with my mom kid free and know the girls were having a blast being spoiled by their other grandparents, Aunt Jenn and Lucky the dog.
I decided this morning it was time for a new picture - well they did not agree. Molly let me know that it was itchy and Riley didn't want to take a photo:)
We got to hang out with the Morken boys at the park and at the house this week. The boys killed zombie pigs while Molly ran around with her baby doll (and Riley napped).
We made valentine cookies
Molly dipped her cookie in the frosting

Will decorated his cookies before eating
Spencer just ate the frosting

This was Riley full swing with her funk - that is the day I decided to take her to the doctor. 15 min at the KinderMender and we were done which was a shock for me because on post it takes at least 2 hours between the doctor and getting the medicine. Don't worry though the crud in the eye did not make Riley stop smiling as long as she was being touched she was a happy kid - just ask her NeNe who was not allowed to put her down all weekend.
Granny and BertBurt brought out some toys and their typewriter from college for the girls to play with.
Riley just wants to be like her BertBurt
Molly loved the typewriter - she spent much time there typing and playing.
Riley the secretary liked to rearrange her sister's typing's.

A tea party with Granny.

The trip to MD was great for all, the girls got time with each of their grandparents and were completely spoiled.
But they were both very excited to come home to their daddy.
Just a fun shot of Riley post dinner one night.

McCrafty or McFailure?

While I don't have a pinterst account I have gotten some ideas off the site. January has been a month of trying new things - I took up and put down crocheting (ask my mom about her awesome dish rag), trying to celebrate normally uncelebrated holidays like Valentines day all while sticking with our Dave Ramsey budget!! Some crafts turned out and others not so much - but you never know if you don't try right?
Valentine's day head bands - total cost $2.97. As Molly looks at the picture she is letting me know that Riley is crying and of course they were itchy and they hated them. The headbands made it about 1 hour before I gave up the fight.

Guess which one cost $35 and which one cost $3.50? Yes I have now made a wet bag since our JoAnn's carries diaper material. I really didn't want the pink material but it was that or dinosaurs or dark blue - I know we are not having a boy so I figured I might as well resolve for the pink but seriously wish they carried RED or even solid black.
For $2 I attempted to copy a wreath I found online but well when you buy cheap things happen like the splitting of the glass as you hang it from the door. Also the "neon" sweethearts at the Dollar Store were a little less than neon in my opinion but it now proudly sits outside our door welcoming all our many guests!
And last but not least - Homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles!! This was the one thing that turned out AWESOME (thanks Gloria).

All in all we are ready for Feb be it not as many decorations as first thought out but hey I am only out less than $5 and the wet bag worked so that is good!!

Hope you are having a great Feb 1!!
